About the Group:
Heroes Within is a creative art therapy group for kids ages 8–12 that uses art and storytelling to explore feelings, strengths, and growth through the exciting lens of superheroes. Kids will create their own superhero characters and narratives to help express emotions, build resilience, and discover inner strengths in a supportive, creative environment.
This group offers a supportive, inclusive space where kids can connect with peers, build confidence, and practice self-expression. No prior art experience required and curiosity and openness are welcome!
Who This Group Is For:
This group is designed for kids ages 8–12 who:
Have big feelings and need a creative outlet
Struggle to talk about emotions but open up through art or imagination
Would benefit from building confidence and a stronger sense of self
Want support navigating friendship dynamics
Enjoy drawing, stories, or superheroes!
All materials and activities are accessible and focused on process and connection.
Why Art Therapy?:
Art therapy supports children in expressing complex emotions that may be difficult to put into words. Through creative processes like character design and world-building, kids can explore themes of identity, resilience, and belonging in a nonverbal, embodied way. Group reflection supports connection and emotional validation while respecting each child’s comfort level with sharing.
What To Expect:
Each week includes art-making, gentle reflection, and peer support in a calm, accepting environment. Participants will:
Explore their unique inner world and characteristics
Learn creative ways to talk about challenges and strengths
Connect with peers who share similar lived experiences
Discover personal strengths and new ways of coping
Group Details:
Dates: January 12 – March 9, 2026
Day & Time: Mondays, 4:00–5:00 PM
Location: Radiant Mind Wellness (in person)

Cost: $35 per session (insurance accepted)
Materials Provided: 2D & 3D art supplies
Parent / Guardian Involvement
Because Heroes Within is a clinical art therapy group for minors, a brief consultation call with a parent or guardian is required prior to final registration. This call helps ensure informed consent for treatment and provides space to review the therapeutic structure, confidentiality, and group goals.
Teens attend sessions independently; however, participation must be supported by a caregiver. The consultation also allows caregivers to ask questions and confirm that the group is a good fit for their teen.
About the Facilitators:
Hollie Anderson, Clinical Art Therapy Intern is a graduate student Clinical Art Therapist Intern who brings warmth and curiosity, using art, story, and gentle reflection to support kids in feeling seen, understood, and connected.
Hollie is supervised by Kate Wingard, LCMHC, ATR-BC, Clinical Director at Radiant Mind Wellness.
